If you enjoy drinking every now and then, make sure that you do so responsibly. Even those who claim to drink moderately still cannot disregard the possibility of falling into the trap of alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse. One of the greatest consequences of unregulated alcohol intake is the development of liver damage. This is also known as cirrhosis of the liver. It usually starts out as swelling and inflammation in the liver and then the development of scarring thereafter. The longer the period of your alcohol dependency or abuse, the more severe liver damage symptoms may get. This is because the liver is the one responsible for breaking down all those units of alcohol you consume on a daily basis. The common symptoms include abdominal pain and tenderness, change of skin pallor and development of jaundice, weight loss, dry mouth, fluid buildup or edema, and in worse cases, abnormal bleeding. The individual also begins to move sluggishly and has slow reflexes.
